The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (HR6) bans the manufacture of virtually all Probe Start Metal Halide fixtures between 150W – 500W as of January 1, 2009. Only certified Pulse Start Metal Halide fixtures will be manufactured after that time. Those fixtures will be identified with a “circle-E” logo on the packaging and ballast:

Existing Probe Start Metal Halide Fixtures manufactured before January 1, 2009 can be sold until the inventory is depleted. Some MH fixtures are exempt, but the vast majority will be eliminated.
